Claims (18)
- 액정이 등방상 또는 네마틱 상을 유지하게 하는 초기온도에서 액정패널의 셀 내에 강유전성 액정을 주입하는 단계와,온도를 낮추어 상기 강유전성 액정을 네마틱상에서 스멕틱 C상으로 상전이시키는 단계와,상기 네마틱상에서 스멕틱 C상으로 상전이되는 과정 중에 상기 액정패널의 수직라인들 사이에 극성이 반전되는 ±1∼9V 정도의 전압에 해당하는 전기장을 상기 액정패널에 인가하여 상기 강유전성 액정을 전계 배향하는 단계를 포함하고, 상기 전계 배향된 강유전성 액정의 액정셀은 전계 배향시의 전기장 극성과 상반된 극성의 전압에 응답하여 빛을 투과시키고 상기 전계 배향된 강유전성 액정의 액정셀은 전계 배향시의 전기장 극성과 동일한 극성의 전압에 응답하여 빛을 차단시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 강유전성 액정표시장치의 전계 배향 방법.

- 강유전성 액정이 주입되고 액정패널의 수직라인들 간에 극성이 반전되는 전기장에 의해 전계 배향된 임의의 액정셀에 제1 극성의 데이터를 한 프레임 기간보다 작은 제1 서브 프레임 기간 동안 공급하는 단계와,상기 제1 서브 프레임을 제외한 상기 한 프레임 기간의 나머지 기간인 제2 서브 프레임 기간 동안에 상기 제1 극성과 다른 제2 극성의 데이터를 상기 액정셀에 공급하는 단계와,상기 전계 배향된 강유전성 액정의 액정셀은 상기 전계 배향시의 전기장 극성과 상반된 극성의 전압에 응답하여 빛을 투과시키고, 상기 전계 배향시의 전기장 극성과 동일한 극성의 전압에 응답하여 빛을 차단시켜 준 임펄스 구동을 하는 단계 를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 강유전성 액정표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 데이터는 상기 액정패널의 수직라인들 간에 극성이 반전되는 컬럼 인버젼 데이터 이고, 상기 제1 서브 프레임 기간에 인가된 제1 극성의 데이터와 상기 제2 서브 프레임 기간에 인가된 제2 극성의 데이터는 극성이 서로 반전되는 것을 특징으로 하는 강유전성 액정표시장치의 구동방법.

- 강유전성 액정이 주입되고 상기 강유전성 액정이 수직라인들 간에 극성이 반전되는 전기장에 의해 전계 배향된 액정패널과,상기 액정패널 내의 임의의 액정셀에 제1 극성의 데이터를 한 프레임 기간보다 작은 제1 서브 프레임 기간 동안 공급한 후에 상기 한 프레임 기간의 나머지 기간인 제2 서브 프레임 기간 동안에 상기 제1 극성과 다른 제2 극성의 데이터를 상기 액정셀에 공급하는 데이터 구동회로와,상기 액정패널의 게이트라인들에 접속되어 상기 게이트라인들에 스캔신호를 공급하여 상기 데이터가 공급되는 수평방향의 액정셀들을 선택하기 위한 스캔 구동회로와,상기 한 프레임 기간 내에 상기 액정패널의 전 액정셀에 적어도 두 차례 이상 데이터가 공급될 수 있도록 상기 데이터 구동회로와 상기 스캔 구동회로를 120Hz를 기준으로 배속 구동하기 위한 타이밍 컨트롤러를 포함하고,상기 데이터 구동회로는 상기 액정패널의 데이터라인들에 접속되어 인접한 데이터라인들 간에 극성이 서로 상반되는 컬럼 인버젼 데이터를 상기 데이터라인들에 공급하고, 상기 액정패널 내의 액정셀은 상기 전계 배향시의 전기장 극성과 상반된 극성의 전압에 응답하여 빛을 투과시키고, 상기 전계 배향시의 전기장 극성과 동일한 극성의 전압에 응답하여 빛을 차단시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 강유전성 액정표시장치의 구동장치.
