Claims (15)
- 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 프레임 형상으로 마련되는 밀봉재와,상기 밀봉재에 의해 둘러싸인 영역 내에 전기 광학 물질을 밀봉하여 이루어지는 전기 광학 물질층과,상기 한 쌍의 기판중 적어도 한쪽 기판 상에 있어 상기 밀봉재에 의해서 둘러싸인 영역 내에 마련되는 절연층과,상기 절연층과 상기 전기 광학 물질층 사이에 마련되는 배향막을 갖고,상기 밀봉재에 의해서 둘러싸인 영역은,표시가 행해지는 유효 표시 영역과,상기 유효 표시 영역과 상기 밀봉재 사이에 있는 주변 영역을 구비하고,상기 주변 영역 내의 상기 절연층에는 상기 밀봉재와 겹치지 않는 영역에 상기 배향막의 재료가 들어가는 오목부가 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는전기 광학 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 유효 표시 영역 내의 상기 절연층중 상기 주변 영역에 인접하는 부분에 는, 그 주변 영역 내의 상기 절연층보다 얇은 부분이 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 오목부는 상기 유효 표시 영역을 따라 연장되는 홈인 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 오목부는 상기 유효 표시 영역을 둘러싸는 환상(環狀)의 홈인 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 유효 표시 영역은 반사 표시를 행하는 반사 표시 영역과 투과 표시를 행하는 투과 표시 영역을 갖고,상기 유효 표시 영역 내의 상기 절연층은, 상기 반사 표시 영역에서의 상기 전기 광학 물질층의 두께를 상기 투과 표시 영역에서의 상기 전기 광학 물질층의 두께보다 얇게 하도록, 적어도 상기 반사 표시 영역에 형성되고,상기 반사 표시 영역 내의 상기 절연층은 상기 주변 영역 내의 상기 절연층과 같은 두께로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는전기 광학 장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 주변 영역에 인접하는 상기 투과 영역과 상기 오목부 사이에 있는 상기 절연층의 높이는, 상기 반사 표시 영역과 상기 오목부 사이에 있는 상기 절연층의 높이보다 낮은 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 주변 영역 중 상기 오목부가 형성되어 있지 않은 영역과 상기 반사 표시 영역의 양쪽에 스페이스 부재를 마련하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치.

- 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 전기 광학 물질이 유지되어 이루어지고, 반사 표시를 행하는 반사 표시 영역 및 투과 표시를 행하는 투과 표시 영역을 구비하는 유효 표시 영역과, 상기 유효 표시 영역의 외측에 배치되어 이루어지는 주변 영역을 구비하는 전기 광학 장치로서,상기 한 쌍의 기판중 적어도 한쪽 기판은, 절연층과, 상기 절연층의 상기 전기 광학 물질쪽에 마련되어 이루어지는 배향막을 갖고,상기 절연층은, 상기 반사 표시 영역에서의 상기 전기 광학 물질의 두께를 상기 투과 표시 영역에서의 상기 전기 광학 물질의 두께보다 얇게 하도록, 적어도 상기 반사 표시 영역 및 상기 주변 영역에 마련되어 이루어지고, 또한, 상기 주변 영역 내에 상기 배향막의 재료가 들어가는 오목부가 형성되어 이루어지고,상기 표시 영역에서, 상기 절연층의 두께가 반영되어 상기 전기 광학 물질의 두께가 두꺼운 영역은, 상기 주변 영역의 상기 오목부와 연결되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는전기 광학 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 9 항에 있어서,상기 한쪽 기판은 상기 절연층에 덮여 이루어지는 착색층을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 9 항에 있어서,상기 한쪽 기판은 상기 절연층에 덮여 이루어지는 스위칭 소자를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치.
- 표시가 행해지는 유효 표시 영역과, 상기 유효 표시 영역의 주변에 있는 주변 영역을 갖는 전기 광학 장치의 제조 방법으로서,상기 유효 표시 영역 및 상기 주변 영역에 절연층을 형성하는 절연층 형성 공정과,상기 절연층을 소정의 형상으로 패터닝하는 패터닝 공정을 갖고,상기 패터닝 공정에서는, 상기 주변 영역의 상기 절연층에 오목부를 형성하고, 상기 주변 영역에 상기 오목부를 형성하는 것과 동시에 상기 투과 표시 영역의 절연층을 패터닝하여 상기 투과 표시 영역의 절연층을 얇게 하거나 또는 제거하는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기 광학 장치의 제조 방법.
- 삭제
- 제 12 항에 있어서,상기 패터닝 공정 후에 상기 절연층상에 배향막을 도포하는 공정을 더 갖고,상기 배향막을 도포하는 공정에서, 상기 배향막은 상기 절연층의 상기 오목부로 유동하는 것을 특징으로 하는전기 광학 장치의 제조 방법.
- 청구항 1 또는 청구항 9에 기재된 전기 광학 장치를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 전자 기기.
