Description
Claims (9)
- 하나 이상의 광 디바이스와 하나 이상의 기판-소유(substrate-carried) 광섬유를 수동 정렬시키는 방법에 있어서:매립된 에칭 정지 층을 포함하는 기판을 패터닝하는 단계;수직 벽 및 수직 단부 면을 갖는 U-그루브 패턴을 생성하도록 상기 기판을 에칭하는 단계로서, 상기 U-그루브 패턴은 제1 U-그루브 및 두 개 이상의 제2 U-그루브를 포함하고, 상기 두 개 이상의 제2 U-그루브는 상기 제1 U-그루브의 길이를 따라, 그리고 상기 제1 그루브에 직각으로 형성되며, 상기 U-그루브의 패턴의 깊이는 상기 에칭 정지 층 위에 놓이는 재료의 두께에 대응하고, 상기 기판 상에서의 상기 U-그루브의 패턴의 위치는 상기 광 디바이스에 대해서 정렬되는, 상기 기판 에칭 단계;아교 리셉터클을 제공하도록 상기 제1 U-그루브의 단부에서 직각 U-그루브를 에칭하는 단계로서, 상기 제1 U-그루브의 단부에서의 상기 직각 U-그루브는 상기 두 개 이상의 제2 U-그루브와 실질적으로 평행한, 상기 수직 U-그루브 에칭 단계; 및상기 광섬유를 상기 제1 U-그루브에 배치하고, 상기 섬유를 상기 제1 U-그루브에 고정시키는 단계를 포함하는 하나 이상의 기판-소유 광섬유 수동 정렬 방법.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 제1 U-그루브의 단부에서의 수직 표면에 접촉하도록 상기 광섬유의 단부 면을 미는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 하나 이상의 기판-소유 광섬유 수동 정렬 방법.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광 디바이스는 레이저인 것을 특징으로 하는 하나 이상의 기판-소유 광섬유 수동 정렬 방법.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 에칭 정지 층이 매립되는 기판은 실리콘 온 인슐레이터 (SOI) 웨이퍼인 것을 특징으로 하는 하나 이상의 기판-소유 광섬유 수동 정렬 방법.
- 기판 상에 배치되어, 하나 이상의 광 디바이스와 정렬된 하나 이상의 광섬유를 포함하는 디바이스에 있어서:상기 광섬유는 제1 U-그루브에 배치되어 고정되고, 상기 그루브의 벽 및 단부 면은 기판 표면에 대해서 본질적으로 수직이며, 상기 그루브의 바닥 면은 에칭되지 않은 기판 표면과 본질적으로 평행하며, 두 개 이상의 제2 U-그루브가 상기 제1 U-그루브의 길이를 따라, 그리고 상기 제1 U-그루브에 직각으로 배열되며, 직각 U-그루브는 상기 제1 U-그루브의 단부에 제공되어 아교 리셉터클을 형성하며, 상기 제1 U-그루브의 단부에서 제공된 U-그루브는 상기 두 개 이상의 제2 U-그루브에 실질적으로 평행한 하나 이상의 광섬유를 포함하는 디바이스.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 광섬유의 한 단부 면은 상기 제1 U-그루브의 단부에서 본질적으로 수직인 표면에 접촉되도록 이동되는 것을 특징으로 하는 하나 이상의 광섬유를 포함하는 디바이스.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 광 디바이스는 레이저인 것을 특징으로 하는 하나 이상의 광섬유를 포함하는 디바이스.
