Description
Claims (27)
- 서로 대향된 하부 기판 및 상부 기판;상기 하부 기판 상에 서로 교차하여 투과부와 반사부로 구분되는 화소 영역을 정의하는 게이트 라인 및 데이터 라인;상기 게이트 라인과 데이터 라인의 교차부에 형성된 박막 트랜지스터;상기 반사부에 형성된 반사판;상기 화소 영역에 서로 교번하여 형성된 화소 전극 및 공통 전극;상기 상부 기판 상에 상기 반사부에 대응되어 형성된 리타데이션층;상기 제 1, 상부 기판 사이에 형성된 액정층; 및상기 하부 기판 및 상부 기판의 각각의 배면에 형성된 제 1 편광판 및 제 2 편광판을 포함하여 이루어진 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층은 λ/2의 위상지연을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층의 광축은 상기 20~45°인 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 액정층은 상기 투과부에서 λ/2, 상기 반사부에서 λ/4의 위상지연을 가지는 셀 갭 조건을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 4항에 있어서,상기 액정층은 화이트 상태에서 45°의 광축을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 5항에 있어서,상기 액정층은 블랙 상태에서 상기 제 2 편광판의 투과축에 대하여 0°또는 90°의 광축을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 액정층의 리타데이션 값은 137~320nm에 상당한 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 7항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층의 리타데이션 값은 137~300nm에 상당한 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 반사판은 상기 데이터 라인과 동일층에 구비되는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 게이트 라인과 동일층에 상기 공통 전극과 연결된 공통 라인이 더 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 공통 전극은 상기 게이트 라인과 동일층에 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 공통 전극은 상기 화소 전극과 동일층에 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층을 포함한 상기 상부 기판 상부에 컬러 필터층 및 오버코트층이 더 형성된 것을 특징으로 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 13항에 있어서,상기 상부 기판 상에 투과부와 반사부에 대응되어 형성되는 상기 컬러 필터층 및 오버코트층은 상기 반사부에 형성되는 리타데이션층의 두께를 보상하도록 상대적으로 상기 투과부에서 두껍게 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 13항에 있어서,상기 오버코트층은 상부면은 상기 반사부와 투과부에 부위에서 모두 평탄화되어 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층은 1 내지 2㎛의 두께로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 액정층의 배향을 결정하기 위한 제 1 ,제 2 배향막이 상기 하부 기판 및 상부 기판 내측면에 각각 더 구비되는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 17항에 있어서,상기 제 1 배향막은 상기 게이트 라인, 데이터 라인, 박막 트랜지스터, 화소 전극, 공통 전극 및 반사판을 포함한 상기 하부 기판 전면에 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 17항에 있어서,상기 제 2 배향막은 상기 리타데이션층을 포함한 상기 상부 기판 전면에 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층은 RM(Reactive Mesogen)을 포함하여 이루어진 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 20항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층 상에 제 3 배향막이 더 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층은 증착법으로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 리타데이션층은 코팅법으로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 공통전극 및 화소전극에 의해 정의되는 블록이 반사부 또는 투과부가 되는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 반사부와 상기 투과부의 액정층 분자들은 동일하게 배향되는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 25 항에 있어서,상기 반사부 및 상기 투과부의 액정층의 액정 분자들이 각각 최대 반사율, 투과율 조건에서 45°로 회전하도록, 상기 공통 전극 및 화소 전극의 전극 간격을 조절하는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 제 1 ,제 2 편광판의 편광축은 서로 수직하도록 배치되고,상기 액정층은 상기 제 1 편광판 및 상기 제 2 편광판 중 어느 하나의 투과축과 일치하도록 초기 배향되는 것을 특징으로 하는 횡전계형 액정 표시 장치.
