Description
Claims (7)
- 소정 거리를 두고 대향하며, 각각의 내측면에는 구동 전극이 형성된 상부 기판과 하부 기판;상하부 기판 사이에 개재되고 수개의 액정 분자로 구성되며, 도펀트가 첨가되어 트위스트된 액정층;상기 하부 기판의 내측 표면에 배치되며, 소정의 러빙축을 갖는 제 1 수평 배향막;상기 상부 기판의 내측 표면에 배치되며, 상기 제 1 수평 배향막의 러빙축과 평행하는 러빙축을 갖는 제 2 수평 배향막;상기 하부 기판의 외측에 배치되며, 소정의 편광축을 갖는 제 1 편광판;상기 상부 기판의 외측에 배치되는 상기 제 1 편광판의 편광축과 직교를 이루는 제 2 편광판;상기 하부 기판과 제 1 편광판 사이에 개재되는 제 1 위상 보상 필름; 및상기 상부 기판과 제 2 편광판 사이에 개재되는 제 2 위상 보상 필름을 포함하며,상기 제 1 및 제 2 위상 보상 필름은 디스크 타입의 액정 분자들로 구성되고,상기 제 1 위상 보상 필름의 액정 분자들은 상기 액정층의 미들레이어를 중심으로 하부 영역의 액정 분자들과 경계면을 중심으로 대칭인 분포를 이루도록 트위스트 틸트 배열되고,제 2 위상 보상 필름의 액정 분자들은 상기 액정층의 미들레이어를 중심으로 상부 영역의 액정 분자들과 경계면을 중심으로 대칭인 분포를 이루도록 트위스트 틸트 배열되며,상기 제 1 및 제 2 위상 보상 필름의 위상 지연은 액정층의 위상 지연과 그 절대값은 같고, 그 위상은 반대인 것을 특징으로 하거나 정면에서의 위상지연 값이 액정층의 위상지연 값보다 절대값에 있어서 0.2이하의 차를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학적으로 보상된 밴드 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 도펀트는 액정 분자들이 구동 전압 인가전 180°트위스트될 수 있을 만큼 첨가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학적으로 보상된 밴드 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 도펀트는 0.26 내지 0.36 디피비(d/p)로 첨가된 것을 특징으로 하여 화소의 일부혹은 전체가 스플레이 상태가 되었더라도 제작시의 일정 전압이상의 전압인가에 의하여 화소전체가 안정화된 트위스트 상태로 되는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학적으로 보상된 밴드 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 제 1 및 제 2 수평 배향막의 러빙축은 제 1 및 제 2 편광판의 편광축 중 어느 하나와 소정 각도를 이루되 바람직하게는 45도 혹은 135 도의 각을 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학적으로 보상된 밴드 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 액정층내의 액정 분자는 유전율 이방성이 양인 것을 특징으로 하며 그 값은 3에서 15사이의 값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학적으로 보상된 밴드 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에서 사용되는 액정의 셀갭과 굴절율 이방성의 곱이 0.5um에서 1.2um사이의 값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학적으로 보상된 밴드 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1항에서 액정층의 위상지연값의 절대값에 0.2이하의 값을 더하여 특정전압에서 다크를 만듦으로써 노말리 화이트(Normally White)상태를 만들거나 0.3에서 0.5의 값을 가짐으로써 노말리 블랙(Nomally Black)상태를 만드는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학적으로 보상된 밴드 모드 액정 표시 장치.
