Abstract
Description
Claims (13)
- 상, 하부 유리기판 사이에 유전율 이방성이 음(△ε< 0) 또는 양(△ε> 0)인 액정을 주입하여 수직배향패널을 형성하고, 상기 수직배향패널의 상, 하부에 서로 직교하는 흡수축을 갖는 상, 하부 편광판을 배치하여 3∼8㎛ 범위의 셀 갭을 유지하는 다중도메인 수직배향 모드(MVA) 또는 카이랄 첨가제(chiral additive)를 사용하는 수직배향 모드의 액정표시소자(VA-LCD)에 있어서,필름의 면상에서의 굴절율(nx,ny)과 두께방향의 굴절율(nz)이 nx > ny = nz인 제 1위상차 필름(A-plate), 또는 nx = ny > nz인 제 2위상차 필름(-C-plate) 중에서 적어도 한 개 이상으로 이루어지는 포지티브 보상필름을 상기 수직배향패널과 상, 하부 편광판 사이에 배치하여 포지티브값의 위상차 보상특성을 갖는 액정 셀을 구성하되,상기 제 1위상차 필름(A-plate)은 가시광 범위 안에서 파장이 증가할수록 위상차 값이 증가하는 역 파장분산(reversed wavelength dispersion)특성을 갖고 그 광 축(Optical Axis)이 인접한 편광판의 흡수축과 수직으로 배치되며,상기 제 2위상차 필름(-C-Plate)과 수직배향 패널을 포함하는 두께 방향의 위상차 값의 총합(R-C + RVA)이 550nm의 파장에서 50nm~150nm 범위의 포지티브 위상차값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,전압이 인가되지 않은 상태에서의 상기 수직배향 패널의 액정분자의 방향자는 상기 수직배향 패널의 상, 하부 유리기판 사이에서, 75∼90도 범위의 프리틸트각(pretilt angle)을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 프리틸트 각이 87~90도 인 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 2항에 있어서,상기 프리틸트 각이 89~90도 인 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 수직배향 패널에 형성되는 액정 층의 위상차 값이 550nm 파장에서 80nm ∼ 400nm 범위를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 5항에 있어서,상기 수직배향 패널에 형성되는 액정 층의 위상차 값이 550nm 파장에서 80nm~300nm 인 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 수직배향 패널에 주입된 액정의 러빙방향이 상기 편광판의 흡수축과 45도를 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 제 1위상차 필름(A-Plate)이 550nm 파장에서 130nm~200nm범위의 위상차 값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 8항에 있어서,상기 제 1위상차 필름(A-Plate)이 550nm파장에서, 130nm∼160nm 범위의 위상차 값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 제 1위상차 필름(A-Plate)의 위상차 값의 비(RA,400/RA,550)의 범위가 0.6∼0.9이고, 상대적인 위상차 값의 비(RA,700/RA,500)의 범위가 1.1∼1.5인 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 제 2위상차 필름(-C-Plate)이 550nm 파장에서, -100nm ~ -400nm 범위의 두께 방향의 위상차 값을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서,상기 제 2위상차 필름(-C-Plate)의 두 파장400nm, 550nm에서의 상대적인 위상차 값(R-C,400/R-C,550)은 상기 수직배향 패널의 상대적인 위상차 값 보다 크고, 두 파장 550nm,700nm에서의 상대적인 위상차 값(R-C,700/R-C,550)은 수직배향 패널의 상대적인 위상차 값보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
- 제 12항에 있어서, 상기 제 2위상차 필름(-C-Plate)의 두 파장 400nm,550nm에서의 두께 방향의 상대적인 위상차 값(R-C,400/R-C,550)은 1.1∼1.3 범위의 값을 가지며, 두 파장 550nm,700nm에서의 두께 방향의 상대적인 위상차 값(R-C,700/R-C,550)은 0.8 ~ 0.9의 범위를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 포지티브 보상필름을 갖는 수직배향 액정표시장치.
