컴퓨터에서 영상정보를 검색하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.

컴퓨터에서 영상정보를 쉽게 검색할 수 있는 장치 및 방법을 제공한다.
다.발명의 해결방법의 요지
사용자로부터 입력된 개략적인 영상을 컴퓨터가 인식하여 벡터양자화한 후, 상기 벡터양자화에 대한 프로파일을 생성해서 영상 데이터베이스 각 영상에 대한 프로파일과 비교하여 유사도가 기준치 이내로 되는 영상을 디스플레이시킨다.

컴퓨터에서 영상정보를 검색할 때 이용한다.

컴퓨터에서 영상정보 검색장치 및 방법{APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CHECKING VIDEO INFORMATION IN COMPUTER SYSTEM}
본 발명은 데이터베이스 검색 방법에 관한 것으로, 특히 영상정보의 검색장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다.
통상적으로 컴퓨터를 이용하여 데이터베이스를 검색하는 방법은 검색하고자 하는 정보가 문서정보이건 영상정보이건 간에 키워드를 입력하여서 원하는 정보를 검색하였다. 그런데 검색하고자 하는 정보가 정지 영상정보인 경우 데이터베이스를 만들 때 정지 영상정보가 많을 때에는 각 영상에 맞는 적절한 키워드로 저장시키는 것도 어렵고, 검색할 때도 키워드만 읽고서는 각 키워드에 저장되어 있는 정지 영상을 예측하기도 어렵다. 따라서 정지 영상 데이터베이스를 쉽게 검색할 수 있는방법이 필요하였다.
상술한 바와 같이 종래에는 정지 영상정보가 담겨있는 데이터베이스를 키워드를 입력시켜서 검색하는 경우 정지 영상정보와 키워드의 내용과 맞지 않을 때가 많아서 검색이 어려웠다.
따라서 본 발명의 목적은 컴퓨터에서 영상정보를 쉽게 검색할 수 있는 장치 및 방법을 제공함에 있다.
도 1은 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 영상정보 검색장치의 블록구성도,
도 2는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 처리 흐름도.
상술한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명은 원하는 영상을 사용자가 선과 색으로 간단히 묘사하고 상기 묘사된 그림의 특징 벡터를 추출해서 비슷한 특징 벡터를 가지는 정지 영상을 검색해냄을 특징으로 한다.
이하 본 발명의 바람직한 실시 예를 첨부한 도면을 참조하여 상세히 설명한다. 하기 설명 및 첨부 도면에서 구체적인 처리 흐름과 같은 많은 특정 상세들이 본 발명의 보다 전반적인 이해를 제공하기 위해 나타나 있다. 이들 특정 상세들없이 본 발명이 실시될 수 있다는 것은 이 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 자명할 것이다. 그리고 본 발명의 요지를 불필요하게 흐릴 수 있는 공지 기능 및 구성에 대한 상세한 설명은 생략한다.
우선 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 영상정보 검색장치의 블록구성도를 도 1로써 도시하였다. 상기 도 1을 참조하면 영상입력부(100)는 영상 데이터베이스부(114)로부터 찾고자 하는 영상의 개략적인 그림을 그려서 입력시키는 부분이다. 영상크기 정규화부(102)는 상기 영상입력부(100)로부터 입력되는 영상을 미리 설정된 일정한 크기로 변환한다. 특징벡터 추출부(104)는 정규화된 입력영상으로부터 특징벡터를 추출한다. 벡터 양자화부(106)는 특징벡터 추출부(104)로부터 추출된 특징벡터를 내장 코드북에 의해 벡터 양자화한다. 프로파일 생성부(108)는 입력영상의 특징벡터에 대하여 벡터 양자화부(106)의 코드북을 구성하는 각 코드레벨에 대한 발생빈도를 표시하는 방법으로 입력영상의 특성을 나타내는 프로파일을 생성한다. 유사도 비교부(110)는 입력영상의 프로파일과 영상 데이터베이스의 각 영상에 대한 프로파일들을 비교하여 유사한 범위에 드는 영상 데이터베이스의 영상을 영상표시부(116)에 인가한다. 영상 데이터베이스 인덱스(112)는 영상 데이터베이스부(114)에 담겨있는 각 영상정보의 프로파일들의 집합이다. 영상 데이터베이스부(114)는 영상정보가 저장된 기억장치이다. 영상 표시부(116)는 유사도 비교부(110)로부터 인가되는 영상들을 디스플레이한다. 제어부(118)는 영상정보 검색장치의 각 부를 전반적으로 제어한다.
도 2는 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 처리 흐름도를 도시한 것이다.
먼저 사용자는 영상 데이터베이스부(114)로부터 찾고자하는 영상을 영상입력부(100)를 통해 개략적으로 그려 넣는다. 그러면 제어부(118)는 (200)단계에서 상기 사용자로부터 입력된 영상을 인식하고, (202)단계로 진행하여 영상크기 정규화부(102)를 제어하여 상기 영상을 미리 설정된 일정 크기의 영상으로 정규화한다. 이어 제어부(118)는 (204)단계에서 상기 정규화된 영상을 미리 설정된 개수의 서브블록으로 분할하고, (206)단계로 진행해서 특징벡터 추출부(104)를 제어하여 각 서브블록의 특징벡터를 추출한다. 상기 특징벡터는 예를 들면 각 서브블록의 DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) 계수 등이 될 수 있다. 이어 제어부(118)는 (208)단계로 진행해서 벡터양자화부(106)를 제어하여 상기 (206)단계에서 추출된 특징벡터를 벡터양자화하고, (210)단계로 진행하여 각 양자화 레벨에 대한 상기 특징벡터들의 발생빈도로 표시되는 프로파일을 생성한다. 그리고 제어부(118)는 상기 (210)단계에서 생성한 프로파일과 영상 데이터베이스 인덱스부(112)에 있는 영상 데이터베이스의 각 영상에 대한 프로파일들을 비교한다. 이어 제어부(118)는 (214)단계로 진행하여 상기 (212)단계에서 비교된 영상 데이터베이스부(114)의 프로파일중 상기 (210)단계에서 생성한 프로파일과 유사도가 기준치 이내에 있는 프로파일이 있는지 여부를 검사한다. 이때 만일 유사도가 기준치 이내에 있는 프로파일이 있으면 제어부(118)는 (216)단계로 진행하여 영상표시부(116)로 상기 프로파일에 해당하는 영상을 영상 데이터베이스부(114)로부터 독출하여 디스플레이한다. 이와 달리 상기 (214)단계에서 유사도가 기준치 이내에 있는 프로파일이 없으면 제어부(118)는 그대로 종료한다.
따라서 사용자는 원하는 영상의 특징부분을 개략적으로 그려서 입력시킴으로써 키워드를 입력하지 않고도 원하는 영상을 검색할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같이 본 발명에 따르면 사용자는 원하는 영상의 특징부분을개략적으로 그려서 입력시킴으로써 키워드를 생각할 필요없이 쉽게 원하는 영상을 검색할 수 있는 이점이 있다.

Claims (2)

  1. 컴퓨터에서 영상정보를 검색하는 장치에 있어서,
    사용자에 의해 입력되는 영상을 받아들이는 영상입력부와,
    상기 영상입력부로부터 인가되는 상기 입력영상을 미리 설정된 일정한 크기로 정규화 하는 영상크기 정규화부와,
    상기 영상크기 정규화부로부터 인가되는 정규화된 영상의 각 서브블록들의 특징벡터를 추출하는 특징벡터 추출부와,
    상기 특징벡터 추출부로부터 인가되는 연속적인 값을 갖는 특징벡터를 상기 특징벡터 공간 내의 정해진 수의 대표값중의 하나로 양자화하는 벡터양자화부와,
    상기 벡터양자화부내의 각 양자화 레벨에 대하여 상기 입력영상의 특징벡터가 나타나는 빈도를 표시한 영상 프로파일을 생성하는 프로파일 생성부와,
    각종 영상자료를 저장하는 영상 데이터베이스부와,
    상기 영상 데이터베이스부를 구성하는 영상들의 프로파일들이 저장되어 있는 영상 데이터베이스 인덱스부와,
    상기 프로파일 생성부로부터 인가되는 상기 입력영상의 프로파일과 상기 영상 데이터베이스 인덱스의 각 프로파일을 비교하는 유사도 비교부와,
    상기 유사도 비교부를 통해 유사도가 기준치 이내에 있는 프로파일에 해당하는 영상을 상기 영상 데이터베이스부로부터 독출하여 영상표시부로 디스플레이하는 제어부를 구비함을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터에서 영상정보 검색장치.
  2. 각종 영상자료를 저장하는 영상 데이터베이스부와, 상기 영상 데이터베이스부를 구성하는 영상들의 프로파일들이 저장되어 있는 영상 데이터베이스 인덱스부를 구비한 컴퓨터에서 영상정보를 검색하는 방법에 있어서,
    영상입력부를 통해 사용자에 의해 입력되는 영상을 받아들이는 과정과,
    상기 입력된 영상을 미리 설정된 일정한 크기로 정규화하는 과정과,
    상기 정규화된 영상의 각 서브블록들의 특징벡터를 추출하는 과정과,
    상기 추출된 특징벡터를 상기 특징벡터 공간 내의 정해진 수의 대표값중의 하나로 양자화하는 과정과,
    상기 각 양자화 레벨에 대하여 상기 입력영상의 특징벡터가 나타나는 빈도를 표시한 영상 프로파일을 생성하는 과정과,
    상기 생성된 입력영상의 프로파일과 상기 영상 데이터베이스 인덱스의 각 프로파일을 비교하는 과정과,
    상기 비교과정을 통해 유사도가 기준치 이내에 있는 프로파일에 해당하는 영상을 상기 영상 데이터베이스부로부터 독출하여 영상표시부로 디스플레이하는 과정을 구비함을 특징으로 하는 컴퓨터에서 영상정보 검색방법.
