Claims (3)
- 와이드 디스플레이 포맷비(예, 16:9)를 갖는 비디오 디스플레이 수단(10)과, 입력 비디오 신호(Y_IN)에 의해 나타나는 화상이 이 화상의 활성 비디오 부분(14)이 상부 테두리 영역(16)과 하부 테두리 영역(18)사이에 위치되는 레터박스 포맷을 갖는 화상을 나타내는 때를 결정하는 레터박스 검출기(100)와, 상기 입력 비디오 신호가 상기 레터박스 포맷을 갖는 것으로 결정될 때 상기 비디오 디스플레이 수단을 상기 활성 비디오 부분으로 채우도록 상기 화상이 크기를 확장시키는 것을 제어하는 수단(LTRBX_BEG, LTRBX_END)과, 상기 활성 비디오 부분(14)의 각 수평 라인 내에 중심을 둔 수평 범위 (픽셀 272-872)에서 상기 레터박스 검출기를 인에이블시키기 위해 상기 레터박스 검출기에 대해 인에이블 신호(LTRBX_EN)를 발생시키는 신호 발생 수단(102,104,106)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 비디오 디스플레이 제어시스템.
- 와이드 디스플레이 포맷비(예, 16:9)를 갖는 비디오 디스플레이 수단(10)을 구비한 비디오 디스플레이 제어 시스템에 있어서, 입력 비디오 신호(Y_IN)에 의해 나타나는 화상이 이 화상의 활성 비디오 부분(14)이 상부 테두리 영역(16)과 하부 테두리 영역(18)사이에 위치되는 레터박스 포맷을 갖는 화상을 나타내는 때를 결정하고, 상기 테두리 영역은 종종 상기 상부 및 하부 테두리 영역의 상이한 부분에 위치하는 보조 정보(예,로고, 메시지, 자막)를 가지게 되는 레터박스 검출기(100)와, 상기 입력 비디오 신호가 상기 레터박스 포맷을 갖는 것으로 결정되고 상기 상부 및 하부 테두리 영역중 하나가 상기 보조 정보의 제1형태(로고)를 포함할 때 상기 비디오 디스플레이 수단을 상기 활성 비디오 부분으로 채우도록 상기 화상의 크기를 확장시키는 것을 제어하고, 상기 입력 비디오 신호가 상기 레터박스 포맷을 갖는 것으로 결정되고 상기 상부 및 하부 테두리영역중의 한 영역이 상기 보조 정보의 제2형태(메시지, 자막)를 포함할 때에는 상기 비디오 디스플레이 수단을 채우지 않는 확장 제어 수단(LTRBX_BAG, LTRBX_ END)과, 상기 레터 박스 포맷을 식별하기 위해 활성 비디오 부분의 각 수평 라인의 일부 구간(272픽셀카운트872)동안 상기 인에이블 신호(LTRBX_EN)를 발생시키는 수단(102,104,106)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 비디오 디스플레이 제어 시스템.
- 와이드 디스플레이 포맷비를 갖는 비디오 디스플레이를 제어하는 방법에 있어서, 입력 비디오 신호(Y_IN)에 의해 나타나고 종종 보조 정보를 가지는 상부 테두리 영역(16)과 하부 테두리 영역(18) 사이에 위치되는 활성 비디오 부분(14)을 갖는 화상의 레터박스 포맷을 검출하는 단계와, 상기 레터박스 포맷이 검출될 때인 제1 모드에서는 상기 디스플레이 수단을 채우기 위해 상기 화상의 크기를 확장하는 단계와, 상기 레터박스 포맷이 검출되고 상기 상부 및 하부 테두리 영역중 하나가 임의의 형태의 상기 보조 정보를 가질 때인 제2 모드에서는 상기 화상의 확장을 금지하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
