Claims (45)
- 규정된 집합의 역방향 제어 채널들 중의 하나를 통해 주기적인 신호 전송을 각기 시작하는 다수의 셀룰러 이동 전화기의 위치를 결정하는 셀룰러 전화기 위치 지정 시스템에 있어서, (a) 적어도 3개의 셀 사이트 시스템(cell site systems); 및 (b) 상기 셀 사이트 시스템과 동작 가능하게 결합되어 있는 중심 사이트 시스템(central site system)을 포함하며, 상기 (a)의 셀 사이트 시스템의 각각은, 지면 기반의 고가 안테나; 상기 안테나와 동작 가능하게 결합되어 있으며, 역방향 제어 채널을 통해 상기 셀룰러 전화기에 의해 송신된 셀룰러 전화 신호를 수신하고 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호로부터 유도된 기저 대역 신호를 공급하는 기저 대역 변환기; 모든 셀 사이트에 공통인 타이밍 신호를 수신하는 타이밍 신호 수신기; 및 상기 타이밍 신호 수신기 및 상기 기저 대역 변환기와 동작 가능하게 결합되어 있으며, 상기 기저 대역 신호를 규정된 샘플링 주파수로 샘플링하고 규정된 수의 데이터 비트와 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호가 수신되는 시간을 나타내는 타임 스탬프 비트를 포함하는, 디지털 데이터의 프레임으로 상기 샘플된 신호를 포매팅하는 샘플링 부시스템을 포함하며, 상기 (b)의 중심 사이트 시스템은, 개별 셀룰러 전화 신호를 식별하는 테이블과 상기 셀 사이트 시스템간의 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호의 도착 시간차를 발생시키기 위해 상기 셀 사이트 시스템으로부터의 상기 데이터 프레임을 처리하는 수단; 및 상기 도착 시간차를 기본으로 해서 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호의 출발지가 되는 상기 셀룰러 전화기의 위치를 결정하는 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 셀룰러 전화기 위치 지정 시스템.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 타이밍 신호 수신기는 전역 위치 지정 시스템(GPS) 수신기를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 셀룰러 전화기 위치 지정 시스템.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 중심 사이트 시스템은 한 셀 사이트 시스템으로부터의 한 프레임의 상기 데이터 비트들을 각각의 다른 셀 사이트 시스템으로부터의 대응하는 데이터 비트들과 교차 상관(cross-correlating)시키는 상관기를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 셀룰러 전화기 위치 지정 시스템.

- 제22항에 있어서, 음성 채널을 통해 소정 전화기에 의해 전송된 음성 신호를 수신함으로써 상기 소정 전화기를 연속 추적하고 상기 음성 신호를 기본으로 해서 상기 소정 전화기의 위치를 결정하는 수단을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 지면 기반의 셀룰러 전화 시스템.
- 규정된 집합의 역방향 제어 채널들 중의 하나를 통해 신호들을 주기적으로 전송하는 하나 이상의 셀룰러 이동 전화기들의 위치(들) 결정 방법에 있어서, (a) 상기 역방향 제어 채널의 신호들을 적어도 3개의 지정학적으로 분리된 셀 사이트에서 수신하는 단계; (b) 규정된 수의 데이터 비트와 프레임이 각 셀 사이트에서 생성되는 시간을 표시하는 타임 스탬프 비트를 포함하는, 데이터의 프레임을 생성하기 위해 상기 신호들을 상기 각 셀 사이트에서 처리하는 단계; (c) 개별 셀룰러 전화 신호들과 상기 셀 사이트간의 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호들의 도착 시간차를 식별하기 위해 데이터의 상기 프레임을 처리하는 단계; 및 (d) 상기 도착 시간차에 기초해서 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호들의 출발지인 상기 셀룰러 전화기의 위치를 결정하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 상기 셀룰러 전화기들과 그 각각의 위치들을 식별하는 위치 지정 데이터를 데이터베이스에 저장하는 단계와, 상기 데이터베이스에 대한 엑세스를 원격 지점의 가입자에게 제공하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 상기 위치 지정 데이터를 상기 셀룰러 전화기용 빌링 데이터와 병합시키고 수정된 빌링 데이터를 발생시키는 단계를 더 포함하며, 상기 빌링 데이터는 특정 시간 간격 내에 상기 셀룰러 전화기에 의해 수행된 각 전화 호출에 대한 비용을 표시하며, 상기 비용은 미리 결정된 하나 이상의 빌링 비율에 기초하고 있으며, 상기 수정된 빌링 데이터는 하나 이상의 규정된 위치에서 행해진 호출들에 대한 상이한 비율에 기초하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 선택된 전화기로 하여금 제어 채널을 통해 신호를 전송하게 하도록 신호를 선택된 셀룰러 전화기로 전송하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 비상 구조를 조난된 가입자에게 제공할 수 있도록 조난 신호를 셀룰러 전화기로부터 수신함에 따라 위치 지정 정보를 규정된 수신국으로 자동 송신하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 소정 전화기의 현 위치를 규정된 범위의 위치와 비교하고, 상기 현 위치가 상기 규정된 범위에 있지 않을 때 경고 조건을 표시하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 소정 전화기에 의해, 그리고 상기 소정 전화기가 신호 전송을 시작하도록 상기 소정 전화기를 자동 페이징 함에 따라 신호 전송의 부족을 검출하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 규정된 위치에의 소정 전화기의 도착 시간을 추정하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 음성 채널을 통해 소정 전화기에 의해 전송된 음성 신호를 수신함으로써 상기 소정 전화기를 연속 추적하고 상기 음성 신호를 기본으로 해서 상기 소정 전화기의 위치를 결정하는 단계를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, 셀룰러 전화 신호를 제1셀 사이트에서 수신하는 단계; 복조된 디지털 비트 스트림을 생성하기 위해 상기 제1셀 사이트에서 상기 수신된 셀룰러 전화 신호를 복조하는 단계; 제1의 재구성 셀룰러 전화 신호가 생성되도록 최초 송신시 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호를 재구성하기 위해 상기 복조된 디지털 비트 스트림을 변조하는 단계; 상기 제1셀 사이트에서의 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호의 도착 시간을 표시하는 제1피크를 생성하기 위해 상기 제1셀 사이트에서 수신된 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호에 대한 상기 재구성 신호를 교차 상관시키는 단계; 상기 제1피크에 기초해서 상기 제1셀 사이트에서의 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호의 상기 도착 시간을 결정하고 이를 표시하는 제1도착 시간 데이터를 생성하는 단계; 상기 복조된 디지털 비트 스트림과 상기 제1도착 시간 데이터를 상기 제1셀 사이트로부터 중심 사이트로 보내는 단계; 상기 복조된 디지털 비트 스트림과 상기 제1도착 시간 데이터를 제2셀 사이트로 분산시키는 단계; 제2의 재구성 셀룰러 전화 신호가 생성되도록 상기 셀룰러 전화기에 의한 최초 송신시 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호를 재구성하기 위해 상기 복조된 디지털 비트 스트림을 상기 제2셀 사이트에서 변조하는 단계; 상기 제2셀 사이트에서 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호를 수신하는 단계; 상기 제2셀 사이트에서의 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호의 도착 시간을 표시하는 제2피크를 생성하기 위해 상기 제2셀 사이트에서 수신된 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호에 대한 상기 제2재구성 신호를 교차 상관시키는 단계; 상기 제2피크에 기초해서 상기 제2셀 사이트에서의 상기 셀룰러 전화 신호의 상기 도착 시간을 결정하고 이를 표시하는 제2도착 시간 데이터를 생성하는 단계; 상기 제2도착 시간 데이터를 상기 제2셀 사이트로부터 상기 중심 사이트로 보내는 단계; 및 상기 제1 및 제2도착 시간 데이터를 기본으로 해서 도착 시간 데이터의 시간차를 결정하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제31항에 있어서, (1) 규정된 지정학적 영역을 커버하며, 규정된 증분의 위도 및 경도로 떨어져 위치되어 있는 이론적 지점들의 그리드를 생성하는 단계; (2) 다수 쌍의 셀 사이트에 대한 시간 지연의 이론치를 계산하는 단계; (3) 다수 쌍의 셀 사이트에 대한 이론적 시간 지연과 측정된 시간 지연을 기본으로 해서 최소 스퀘어 차이(LSD) 값을 계산하는 단계; (4) 이론 지점들의 전 그리드를 탐색하고 LSD 값이 최소화되는 이론적인 최상의 위도 및 경도를 결정하는 단계; 및 (5) 규정된 각도 수 또는 그 일부 내로 실제의 위도와 경도를 결정하기 위해 다른 선형화-가중치-최소-스퀘어 반복 수행을 이론적인 최상의 위도 및 경도에서 시작하는 단계를 수행함으로써 셀룰러 전화기의 위치를 추정하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
