Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold a stored charge by periodically rewriting the stored charge of an EEPROM (non-volatile semiconductor memory device). CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 13 decides whether or not a CPU 12 reads or writes information and if it does not read or write, a rewriting is started, if it does, this is interrupted, and the rewriting is started. On the rewriting, the reading of the information starts at a memory cell array 111. When the control circuit 13 reads the information by one byte to an internal buffer according to this reading, it sets a writing mode. In such a way, the stored charge of the EEPROM part 11 is periodically rewritten, thereby, the stored charge is held to improve the reliability in reading.
