Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent loss of data due to operation mistake or abnormality of a device by providing a means generating a delete pattern, a means detecting deletion pattern and a sensor for an identifier. CONSTITUTION:A write inhibition identifier and delete permission/inhibition identifier are provided on an optical disk cartridge, a delete pattern generating circuit 13, a delete pattern detection circuit 14 and a delete permission/inhibition switch (marker) sensor 11 are provided in addition to the circuit recording/ reproducing the information. That is, when a write instruction is received from a host system, whether the data is written or the instruction is rejected is decided depending on the signal from the write inhibition/permission identifier sensor 10. In receiving the delete instruction from the host system, whether the deletion is executed or the instruction is rejected is decided depending on the delete permission/inhibition identifier sensor 11. Thus, misoperation, data destruction or data loss are prevented.
