Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent loss of a data, by adding an index track to a disk by specific method, so that input and output can be executed by use of the other index track when one index track is faulty. CONSTITUTION:A detecting circuit 20 receives an input information from an amplifier 110, and after that, checks whether a write state of an index track is good or not, and sends a signal to a position setting circuit 10. The setting circuit is constituted so that position signals of the first index track 120 and the second index track 130 are sent to a controlling circuit 50, move the head, and are stored in the index track. When storing a data, the detecting circuit 20 compares the track 120 with contents of the amplifier 110 by inputting the signal, sends a readout impossible signal to the detecting circuit in the event of dissidence, and sends the signal to the position setting circuit 10 so that readout is executed from the second index track 130 thereafter. Even if the first index becomes incapable of detection due to some factor, the signal can be detected from the second index track, therefore, loss of a data is prevented and reliability of this device is elevated.
