Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the defocusing quantity of a photographic lens with high accuracy by finding the correcting value for the image formation position of the photographic lens corresponding to the quantity of light of a measured subject from a previously found relation according to the quantity of light and correcting the calculated defocusing quantity with the correcting value. CONSTITUTION:An image of the object is formed by a focus lens group 20A and the formed image is varied to proper magnification by a variator lens group 20B and a compensator lens group 20C, and further formed on an image pickup surface through a master lens group 20D. Then when the photoelectric output waveform of a CCD line sensor 32 to the object image deviates, the defocusing is detected from the quantity and direction of the deviation. The relation between the size (quantity of light of object) of object information obtained with circumferential light and the correcting value for the image formation position of the photographic lens is found previously and the correcting value for the image formation position of the photographic lens corresponding to the quantity of light is found to correct the calculated defocusing quantity with the correcting value. Consequently, the defocusing quantity of the photographic lens is detected with high accuracy regardless of the quantity of the circumferential light.
