Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent color misregistering from occurring in a color image, by providing a means for measuring the feed quantity of a recording paper and a moving mechanism for minutely moving a thermal head, and driving the moving mechanism according to the result of measurement by the feed quantity measuring means. CONSTITUTION:When recording in the first color is finished, a platen roller 2 is reversely rotated in a direction M while subtracting the number of pulses applied to a pulse motor 1 from a count on a counter, and the reverse rotation is continued until a record mark 31 on a recording paper 3 is detected by a position sensor 30 and reaches a predetermined position. The moving quantity of a thermal head 20 is calculated from the difference in the pulse feed quantity at the time of detection of the mark 31 by the sensor 30, the head 20 is finely adjusted by 8 moving mechanism 21, then recording rollers 13, 14 and the head 20 are again moved downward, and recording of an image in the next color is conducted. Thus, a recording position on the paper 3 is positioned through detection by the sensor 30, and the head 20 is finely adjusted through obtaining the difference between the feed quantity and the returning quantity of the paper 3, so that recording in each of three colors can be started from a constantly fixed position in recording a three-color image.
