Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a sheet feeding mechanism which eliminates a strain of a printing sheet to be printed by eliminating feeding pins of a platen, measuring the timing between feed holes by a feed hole detector of the sheet and providing a controller for determining the timing of next typing line.
CONSTITUTION: A platen 2 is driven by a pulse motor 1, and a printing sheet 5 with feed holes 6 is inserted and fed between a thermal head 4 and a platen 2. In this printer, the feed pins of the platen 2 are eliminated, a feed hole detector 7 for detecting the feed holes 6 of the sheet 5 and a controller 3 are provided, the timing between the feed holes 6 of the sheet 5 is measured by the detector 7 with the number of pulses of the motor 1, the timing of the typing line to the next feed holes 6 is determined on the basis of the measured number of pulses, and the strain of the sheet 5 is eliminated to feed the sheet.
