Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently collect plasma, by a method wherein the difference of an Ht value by positional difference is generated between the upper and lower layer parts of conc. blood during storage and blood low in the Ht value is allowed to preferentially flow in the second chamber when stored blood exceeds the volume of the first chamber. CONSTITUTION:Stored blood is sent to a plasma separator 16 from the second blood port (blood sending port) 25 by a recirculation pump 15 through a line 32 to collect a part of plasma. The blood from which a part of plasma is collected is stored in the upper chamber 22 of a blood storage tank 20 from the third blood port (tank return port) 26 and, by the difference between the specific gravity of a blood corpuscle component and that of a plasma component, the Ht-value of the upper layer part is low and that of the lower layer part is high with the elapse of time and, when stored blood exceeds the volume of the upper chamber 22 having a predetermined volume, blood low in specific gravity, that is, in an Ht-value in said blood floods preferentially to be allowed to flow in a lower chamber 23. This blood is sent to the plasma separator 26 from a blood sending port 25 along with the blood collected from a new blood donor and stored in the lower chamber 23 to efficiently collect plasma.
