Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically drain water separated from fuel, by providing a level switch in a casing so that the switch is turned on or off depending on the vertical displacement of a float and by opening a solenoid valve at the bottom of the casing when water not less than a prescribed quantity is collected in the casing.
CONSTITUTION: A water separator 1 is composed of an upper casing 2 with an inlet and an outlet metals 15, 16 in a top plate 4 and a lower casing 5 with a drain port 19 in a bottom plate 7. A level warning switch 8 is inserted into the top plate 4 so that a level switch section 11 at the tip of the switch 8 extends to the vicinity of the bottom plate 7. A float switch 13, which is turned off at the lowest level and turned on at the highest level (shown by a dotted line in the drawing), is provided around the switch section 11. A solenoid valve 25 made of a plunger 20 is provided i n the valve block 17 of the bottom plate 7. When the float 13 is at the highest level, the solenoid valve 25 is energized to connect both drain ports 19, 22 to each other to drain water collected inside.
