Abstract

PURPOSE:To constantly correctly read an identification code by disposing a display area decision means having an X axis base line detecting means and a Y axis base line detecting means for detecting the X axis direction and the Y axis direction of the display area of the identification code. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 10 for moving a sensor 8, inputting a reading signal and outputting a JIS KANJI (Chinese character) code and a binary signal for displaying and printing out to an output device 9 is disposed. The microcomputer 10 includes the display area decision means 11, a small section decision means 12 and a binary signal presence and absence discriminating means 14 and the display area decision means 11 has the X axis base line detecting means for detecting the X axis direction of the display area of the identification code and the Y axis base line detecting means for detecting the Y axis direction of the display area.
