Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer, consisting of methyl methacrylate units, dicyclopentanyl methacrylate units and N-cyclohexylmaleimide units, having excellent optical properties and well balanced mechanical properties, low hygroscopicity, heat resistance, etc. CONSTITUTION:The aimed polymer consisting of (A) 50-80wt.% methyl methacrylate units, (B) 15-45wt.% dicyclopentanyl methacrylate units and (C) 5-35wt.% N-cyclohexylmaleimide units. Furthermore, the above-mentioned polymer is preferably obtained by radically polymerizing the raw material monomers at 50-120 deg.C. Styrene, etc., are preferably copolymerized for improving copolymerizability of the monomers providing the component (C). The amount of the residual monomers in the polymer is preferably <=1wt.%.
