Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the title bathtub excellent in translucency, gloss, and boiling degradation resistance, by molding a composition comprising a specified unsaturated polyester resin, a curing agent, an inorganic filler, Al(OH)3 and a mold release by application of heat and pressure. CONSTITUTION:An unsaturated polyester resin (A) is obtained by dissolving an unsaturated polyester of an MW<=350 per double bond, obtained from a mixture (a) of an alpha,beta-unsaturated dibasic acid and, optionally, a saturated dibasic acid with a polyalcohol in 20-60wt.% ethylenically unsaturated monomer (b). A molding composition is obtained by mixing 100pts.wt. component A with 0.5-4pts.wt. curing agent (B), at least 40wt.%, based on the obtained composition, Al(OH)3 (C) of a mean particle diameter <=100mum, three-dimensional PS (D) of a particle diameter <=100mum, obtained by copolymerizing styrene with a crosslinking agent, in an amount corresponding to a weight ratio of A to D of 100/15-30, and 1-10pts.wt. mold release (E). This composition is molded by application of heat and pressure at 110-180 deg.C in a male-female mold in which the surface of at least the male mold is mirror-finished.
