Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition giving a molded article having excellent rigidity, heat deformation resistance and appearance, and improved impact strength, by dry-blending a specific polymer containing chopped glass strand, with a styrene resin modified with maleic anhydride.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by blending (A) 95W 50wt%, pref. 85W55wt% of a styrene resin modified with maleic anhydride (pref. a resin containing 0.5W30wt% of maleic anhydride) and (B) 5W50wt%, pref. 15W45wt% of a glass-fiber-containing polymer having the shape of extruded pellets, containing 20W90wt% of glass fiber, and obtained by the suspension polymerization of (a) 100pts.wt.of a vinyl monomer or a mixture of two or more vinyl monomers copolymerizable each other, in the presence of (b) 0.5W50pts.wt. of an OH-containing polymerizable monomer or an OH-containing conjugated diene polymer and (c) 5W800pts.wt. of chopped glass strand having a length of 2W10mm, pref. in (d) 100W3,000pts.wt. of an aqueous medium.
