Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a heat sink whose thermal conductivity is high, which is firm and whose thermal stability is high by a method wherein a film of Al or an Al alloy is coated on the surface of a sintered substance of cubic- system boron nitride (CBN). CONSTITUTION:A heat sink has a feature that a film of Al or an Al alloy is coated on the surface of a sintered substance of CBN. Reactivity of Al with CBN is good; accordingly, if Al and its alloy are used as a metallized layer, a firm reactive phase is formed at an interface with CBN. As a coating method, a so-called PVD method in addition to a vacuum evaporation method is preferable from a viewpoint of productivity, adhesion performance of the film or the like; concretely, a sputtering method, an ion plating method or the like is available. As the Al alloy, an alloy composed of Al and a group VIII element such as Ni, Co, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir, Pt or the like or a group VIIa element such as Mn, Tc, Re or the like is preferable from the viewpoint of stability in an adhesion force.
