Abstract

PURPOSE:To set a printing-starting position automatically and speedily, by a method wherein the quantity of paper feed from the leading end of a printing paper to a printing position is substrated from a stored paper feed quantity, and the paper is fed in the direction opposite to a paper feeding direction from the position at which the leading end of the paper is detected. CONSTITUTION:The distance l4 between a printing position E and a paper detection position F is stored in a paper feed memory as a count Cl4. The distance l5 from a paper leading end position G preset in printing on a cut paper P to a printing-starting position is divided by a minimum paper feed quantity to be a count Cl5. A printing-starting position for a new cut paper P is set by a method wherein when the leading end of the cut paper P is detected at the paper detection position F, the paper P is fed in the opposite direction by a distance l6 corresponding to a count Cl6 obtained by subtracting the count Cl5 from the count Cl4. Thus, it is made possible to automatically set the printing-starting position and to speedily set the printing-starting position with high accuracy.
