Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a rustproof steel sheet having superior chemical treatability by plating the surface of a steel sheet with a Zn-Ni alloy contg. a small amt. of a specified metallic element or by forming an inner layer of a Zn-Ni alloy and an outer layer of a Zn-Ni alloy contg. a specified metallic element on the surface of the steel sheet by plating. CONSTITUTION:At least one side of a steel sheet is plated with a Zn-Ni alloy consisting of 0.01-0.1% in total of one or more among Pb, Sn, In, Pd, Ir and Ag, 7-20% Ni and the balance Zn. An inner layer of a Zn-Ni alloy consisting of 7-20% Ni and the balance Zn and an outer layer of a Zn-Ni alloy contg. one or more among Pb, Sn, In, Pd, Ir and Ag may be formed on at least one side of the steel sheet by plating. A plated steel sheet having satisfactory suitability to phosphating at low temp. and superior adhesion and vididness of a paint film after coating is obtd. as a rustproof steel sheet for an automobile, etc.
