Abstract

PURPOSE:To draw the map of a current area automatically by demodulating information data sent on an FM broadcast and discriminating the area (current area) where a vehicle is positioned, and entering an FM broadcast reception state. CONSTITUTION:Map information is stored on a CR-ROM 11 corresponding to respective areas and the information sent on the FM broadcast is demodulated by an RDS signal demodulation part 23. A controller 24 discriminates the area where the vehicle is positioned currently from the information data, e.g. an area discrimination code and a broadcasting station name contained in an area discrimination code and a broadcasting program discrimination code, etc. and sends an index corresponding to the area to a CD-ROM control part 12. The control part 12 reads the map corresponding to the index out of the CD-ROM 11 and a navigation controller 14 performs specific display processing to draw the map on a CRT 15. Therefore, the FM broadcast reception state is only entered regardless of whether the vehicle is driven or not to draw the map corresponding to the current area automatically.
