Abstract

PURPOSE:To know the present position of the vehicles and to enable automatically receive the traffic information corresponding to it, with the area signal from the scattered transmission stations in a small zone. CONSTITUTION:The traffic information broadcast station 10 sequentially transmits the traffic information in a plurality of small zones included in a large zone and the reception area designation signal to the entire large zone. In the small zones, the scattering transmission station 30 is respectively provided, and this station transmits the area signal to the vehicle reception unit 20A in this area. The area signal receiver 27 in the vehicle reception unit 20A receives the area signal from the scattering transmission station 30 and stores it in the memory unti 29. When the vehicle changes the small zone, the content of the memory unit 29 is changed accordingly. The traffic information from the broadcast station 10 is received with the receiver 21, and only the traffic signal relating to the area where the vehicle in the memory unit 29 is positioned, is outputted from the speaker 26.
