Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a vacuum cleaner which can be settled an any place in a stable conditions such that a hand is released form a handle and which allows the handle to be easily gripped by fitting the handle to a vacuum cleaner body provided at its front part with a suction nozzle body so that the handle is rotatable between a position where the handle is protruded rearward from the body and a position where the handle is protruded upward, and by enabling the handle to be releasably locked in such a condition that it is protruded rearward. CONSTITUTION: During cleaning, a pawl part 39 of a clamp 36 on a handle 31 is engaged to a locking part 30 of a vacuum cleaner body 11 so that the handle is locked against rotation, being protruded rearward from the cleaner body 11. Further, a front wheel 22 and a rear wheel 23 of a suction nozzle body 21 are made into contact with a surface to be cleaned such as a floor surface 41. Further, upon keep-back of the vacuum cleaner, or when a hand is temporarily released from the handle 31 during cleaning, the pawl part 39 of the clamp 36 is released from the locking part 30 of the cleaner body 11 and the handle 31 is turned up to a position where the handle 31 is protruded upward from the cleaner body 11. Then, the cleaner body 11 is laid sidelong, making contact with the floor while the handle 31 stands upright. With this arrangement, the handle 31 leans against a corner part 29a at the upper corner of an attaching recess 29 of the cleaner body 11 so as to stand by its dead weight.
