Further, when light beams with different wavelengths is made incident at different angles, they are multiplexed when reflected by the diffraction grating. Here, the flexible flat plate type replica diffraction grating can be mass-produced and high in accuracy. Consequently, the inexpensive multiplexer/demultiplexer with high reliability is obtained.
