Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a mosaic color filter with high precision by forming a black stripe due to a resist layer on an active-element substrate, then actuating the active element and forming a desired mosaic color filter on a voltage impressing electrode by electrodeposition. CONSTITUTION: A light shielding layer 6 is formed on the latticed part of a TFT substrate 1 except a drain transparent electrode 2. Namely, a resist 7 to be used in dyeing is applied on the substrate 1, exposed and developed to form a resist layer 7' of desired pattern, and then the resist layer 7' is dyed with a black dye to form a TFT light shielding layer 6. An active element is actuated to form a RGB mosaic color filter on the respective drain transparent electrodes 2 by electrodeposition. Consequently, a mosaic color filter is easily formed with high precision without patterning the substrate 1.
