Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to apply an adhesive and to remove internal air bubbles by arraying optical fibers and an optical fiber cord by using supporting bodies without contacting the adhesive, arranging the arrayed optical fibers in a container, and supplying liquid resin into the container and degassing and curing the resin. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 1 and optical fiber cord 2 which are arrayed and fixed by the optical fiber supporting body 3 and optical fiber cord supporting body 4 are put in the container 5, and the liquid resin 6 is supplied into the container 5 in this state. Then the liquid resin 6 is degassed under a vacuum and set on the whole. Namely, the tip parts of the optical fibers 1 and optical fiber cord 2 are fixed with the set resin 6 and the optical fibers 1 are exposed in array at the resin end part.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION (Industrial Application Field) The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing an optical fiber array used for connecting an optical waveguide and an optical fiber.

(Prior art) Conventionally, this type of optical fiber array was manufactured using a method in which adhesive was supplied to two or three insulators, and then the optical fibers were sandwiched between these insulators from both sides to align and fix them. was taken.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) The above-described conventional manufacturing method has a drawback in that alignment is not easy because the optical fibers are disposed on a relatively highly viscous adhesive. In addition, it takes time to apply the adhesive evenly with VC, and air is trapped when the optical fiber is sandwiched and bonded. There is a drawback that an inner 8Vc bubble is generated. These bubbles not only reduce the adhesive strength of the optical fiber and the insulator, but also create areas where stress is concentrated in the optical fiber after it is fixed, causing the problem that the optical fiber is more likely to break in these areas. there were.

(Means for Solving the Problem) The method for manufacturing an optical fiber array according to the present invention involves aligning and fixing optical fibers in advance using an optical fiber support and an optical fiber cord support. The optical fibers are aligned and fixed temporarily without contacting the optical fiber T-adhesive, and the fixed optical fibers are placed in a container shaped like the outer shape of the optical fiber array, and liquid resin is poured into the container and vacuum is applied. It is designed to be cured after defoaming, so that an effective alignment state can be obtained, there is no need to apply adhesive, and internal air bubbles can also be removed.
