Abstract

PURPOSE:An insect repellent that contains (1S)-(-)-4,6,6- trimethylbicyclo[3,1,1]hept-3-en-2-one as an active ingredient, thus manifesting excellent insect repellency even with a small amount and maintaining the effect for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION:(1S)-(-)-4,6,6,-Trimethylbicyclo[3,1,1]hept-3-en-2-one is used as an active ingredient for an insect repellent. The compound tends to sublime and the vapor shows excellent insecticidal activity as well as good insect repel lency for clothes, i.e., effective against specific insects such as clothes moth with reduced toxicity without contamination or damage to clothes. Thus, it can be expected to substitute conventional insect repellents. Since it is liquid at room temperature, the compound is used in the solid form by impregnating a suitable carrier such as cardboard, woven cloth or porous materials with the compound or by solidifying it with a gelling agent.

[Conventional technology]

従来防虫剤、殺虫剤として使用されているも−のは数多
いが、一般的農園芸用殺虫剤と異なり家庭内等の衣類収
納用家具、容器内で使用する衣類用防虫剤は多くはない
。それは人畜に対する毒性が低く、衣類等に対し汚染、
損傷を与えずに、イガ等特定の虫類に有効であること等
の制約を受けるためである。There are many insect repellents and insecticides that have been used in the past, but unlike general agricultural and horticultural insecticides, there are not many insect repellents for clothing that are used in clothing storage furniture and containers in the home. 本発明者は防虫剤として使用されている化合物の類縁あ
るいは周縁の化合物について種々研究した結果、　　（
ＩＳ）−（−）−４，６，６−）リメチルビシクロ（３
，１，１：ｌヘプト−３−エン−２−オン（以下これを
