晶と、前記第１及び第２基板の第２主面側に偏光
板とを備えてなり、前記表示電極間に電圧を印加
することにより表示を行う複屈折制御型の液晶表
示器において、前記表示電極以外にも前記ネマテ
イツク液晶と接する透明な電極を設けたことを特
