Abstract

PURPOSE:To hold an air bubble in a cell where the air bubble is hidden from a display surface and to prevent the production of a defective due to the air bubble, by providing an air-bubble holding space where the air bubble in liquid crystal is stored. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal 3 is injected into the part of a liquid-crystal cell 1 encircled with a seal material 2 through an injection hole 4, and the air- bubble holding space 5 formed of the same seal material 2 is provided on the part opposite to the injection hole 4. This space 5 is not placed in the display surface displayed by segment patterns 7, but provided where it is hidden from a display window 8. Then, the liquid crystal 3 is injected by a vacuum injecting method. Namely, the liquid-crystal cell 1 is evacuated by a vacuum pump and the injection hole 4 is put in a liquid-crystal tank to charge the liquid crystal 3. Air bubbles in the liquid crystal are pressed up to enter the air-bubble holding space 5, and the liquid-crystal injection hole 4 is sealed with epoxy resin, etc.

Conventionally, as a method for injecting Q-liquid crystal into a liquid crystal cell, a so-called vacuum injection method is known in which the cell is evacuated using a vacuum pump, the injection port of the cell is placed in a liquid crystal tank, and liquid crystal is filled into the cell. This method does not pose much of a problem when the liquid crystal cell is small, but when the cell is large, air bubbles often remain in the cell until the end, resulting in a defective product. These bubbles can be caused by gas that remained inside the cell without being completely exhausted, gas that was adsorbed on the inner surface of the cell, air that was drawn in when the liquid crystal was injected, or gas that was dissolved in the liquid crystal and came out. It is thought that this is the cause of the occurrence.

この発明はこの気泡を表示面から隠れた場所に閉じ込め

This invention attempts to confine these bubbles in a location hidden from the display surface.

In the liquid crystal cell 1, the liquid crystal 6 is surrounded by the sealant 2.
is injected through injection port 4. A bubble holding space 5 is provided with the same sealing material 2 at a portion opposite the injection port 4;
The bubble holding space 5 may have any shape as long as it can accommodate the bubbles 6, and may be provided at a plurality of locations. Considering the liquid crystal cell 1 of the illustrated size, the diameter of the bubbles is considered to be about 5 to 4 Wfi or less, so the bubble holding space 5 is formed to match the diameter.

It goes without saying that this bubble holding space 5 should not be located within the display surface displayed by the segment pattern 7, but should be provided in a portion hidden from the display window 8. As a method for injecting the liquid crystal 3, a vacuum injection method is used, and the liquid crystal cell 1 is evacuated using a vacuum pump, and the liquid crystal cell 1 is placed in a liquid crystal tank through the injection port 4 to be filled with liquid crystal. Liquid crystal 3 entered from inlet 4
As the bubble rises, the bubble groans as it is pushed to the top. Finally, the bubbles enter the bubble holding space 5 and are held there. After the liquid crystal A is injected, the injection port 4 is sealed with Evokin resin or the like.

According to the liquid crystal cell according to the present invention having the above-described configuration, even if air bubbles exist in the cell, they are retained in a portion hidden from the display surface, so it is possible to eliminate the occurrence of defective products due to the presence of air bubbles. .
