Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent loss of heat from a heating furnace at the time of extraction of steel billets in extracting heated steel billets from a side extraction type walking beam heating furnace by installing two sets of walking beams which can move in the direction of width of the furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Material 5 heated in a heating furnace 3 is carried in the furnace to the position of a side extraction port 6 by a walking beam 4. A walking beam 12a is raised by rotation of a crank shaft 9 driven by a motor 8 through a rotating roller 10a and a truck 11a. At the same time, the walking beam 4 is lowered and retreated and the material 5 is transferred to the walking beam 12a. An extraction cylinder 13a is driven and the walking beam 12a is moved through rolling of the truck 11a and roller 10a, and the material 5 is carried from the extraction port 6 to the direction of extraction. Next, a rotation roller 10b and a truck 11b are driven and the material 5 is transferred to the walking beam 12b and extracted from the extraction port 6.
