Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve track density by recording data and a positioning signal in the same recording surface by laminating two magnetic layers, differing in coercive force, into two-layer structure. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 1, the 1st magnetic laye 2 made of a magnetic material having much greater coercive force than that of the 2nd magnetic layer 3 is provided; when data is recorded on the magnetic layer 2, a magnetic field having greater coercive force than that of the layer 2 is applied when on the magnetic layer, a magnetic field having coercive force greater than that of the magnetic layer 2 and less than that of the magnetic layer 2 is applied. On the magnetic layer 2, a positioning signal only to be reproduced after it is once recorded is recorded and data is recorded on the magnetic layer 3.
