Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit easy changing over from a hand type analog timepiece to a digital timepiece by making the color of the hands different from that of a background in analog display and making the same as that of the background in digital display. CONSTITUTION:A display layer A performs ordinary digital display, while a display layer B performs simply the color changing of the entire surface only. The color of the hands is made the same as that of a display layer B in an on state or off state. If the color of the hands and the color of the layer B are made different by turning the layer A off and the layer B off or on, the same state as that of an ordinary hand type analog timepiece is obtained. On the other hand, if the color of the hands and the color of the layer B are made the same by turning the layer B on or off, the hands are hardly visible on account of the protection color. Hence, the lower part of the layer A assumes the same state as that of the reflection plate of an ordinary digital display, and the digital display without hindrance by the hands is made possible by the layer A.
