Abstract
PURPOSE:To extract and display only the objects and defects included in an extremely thin section by receiving ultrasonic echoes by means of radio receivers disposed symmetrically on both sides of radio transmitters, multiplying the received signals by each other, and displaying the same as inspection information. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic probe 4 consists of disposing receiving arrays 6, 7 consisting respectively of ultrasonic wave receivers 61-6n, 71-7n symmetrically on both sides of a transmission array 5 consisting of ultrasonic wave transmitters 51-5n. When an impulse signal P1i is applied to the transmitter 5i, the ultrasonic pulse beam Ii excited and driven is transmitted toward an object 1 to be inspected, and the ultrasonic echo Ei reflected by a reflection object 8 is received by the receivers 6i, 7i. The resultant reception signals S6i, S7i are multipied by each other with a multiplier 9 to a product signal Mi. Further, the product signal Mi is detected with a detector 10 and is converted to a video signal Vi, which is subjected to displaying of a tomographic image. If such processing is carried out successively selectively from the 1st to the n-th place, the ultrasonic inspection information in the section inclusive of an XY plane of DELTAZ in a Z direction is obtained.
