Abstract

PURPOSE:To make effective echo images observasble easily and surely by providing means of periodically and gradually varying the processing dynamic range of received echo signals in an intended range to an ultrasonic video device such as ultrasonic diagnosis device. CONSTITUTION:The echoes of acoustic wave pulses in a body P to be examined are received in a probe 3 and are fed to a receiving part 4. In this part 4, electronic scan controlling is accomplished like in a transmission part 2, and the received signal is subjected to reception processing. Further this received signal is logarithmically compressed 5, is detected and extracted 6, and is subjected to gain controlling of AGC, STC or the like in a gain control circuit 7, thence it is applied to an automatic DRC circuit 8. In this circuit 8, the received echo signal is subjected to automatic dynamic range controlling, that is, the processing of periodically and gradually varying the processing dynamic range. The output signal thereof is converted to a video signal for display in a signal processing circuit 9, and is applied to a display device 10, by which the echo images are displayed.
