Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the moving speed of a target object instantaneously by mixing local laser light and the reflected laser light from a target object, performing heterodyne detection and frequency analysis and detecting a Doppler shift signal. CONSTITUTION:The laser light from a laser oscillator 21 is chirp-modulated with a moculator 24 and is projected to a target object 28. The reflected light thereof and the laser light from a laser oscillator 21 are mixed with the local laser light frequency shifted with a frequency shifter 30, and the mixed light is subjected to heterodyne detection with a photodetector 38. The output of the photodetector 38 is compressed with a pulse compressor 39, after which it is applied to a distance measuring device 35. On the other hand, the local laser light from the frequency shifter 30 and the laser light chirp-modulated with the modulator 24 are mixed, and the mixed light is subjected to heterodyne detection with a photodetector 33. After the output thereof is compressed with a pulse compressor 34, it is applied to a distance measuring device 35. The device 35 measures the time intervals of both inputs, and displays the distance up to the target object 28 in a display device 41.
