Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a slow-drying oil-based ink having excellent age stability, and suitable for writing utensils, recording instrument, stamp, jet printing, etc., by dissolving a specific azo dye in an alcoholic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: The objective oil-based ink is prepared by dissolving (A) an azo dye if formula (D is azo dye residue free from sulfone group or carboxyl group; X is -O-, -MH- or =N-; R is methyl or ethyl; n is 1W20; m is 1W4) in (B) an alcoholic solvent (e.g. propanol, ethyl cellosolve, etc.) and if necessary, adding a gum rosin, a surface-active agent, etc. to the solution. The amounts of the components (A) and (B) are pref. 5W30wt% and 50W90wt%, respectively.
EFFECT: Low toxicity and odor.
