Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform purification stably at all times despite the fluctuation in the amt. of the sewage to be treated by suppling air of the amt. conforming to specific conditons in an aerating tank in purifying the sewage through catalytic oxidation.
CONSTITUTION: Sewage to be purified is put into an aerating tank 1 packed with catalytic base materials 7, and air is fed from an air diffusion pipe 6 so that the sewage is purified by activated sludge. When the amt. of the sewage entering the tank 1 is fluctuating at all times, the concn. C corresponding to the instantaneous BOD5 of the sewage by a TOD meter 2 measured at cycles of ≤1/5 the sewage stagnation time in the tank 1 or an average concn. C' as well as the instantaneous supply rate F or average supply rate F' of the sewage by a flow rate indicator 3 are measured, and the measured signals thereof are fed to a controller 4 which operates the blast air flow rates G1WG4 of a blower 5 for blast by the equations (a)W(d), The signals thereof are fed to the blower 5 which in turn controls the air flow rate to be fed correctly, thereby purifying the sewage stably at all times with less energy consumption and equipment devices.
