Abstract

PURPOSE:To universally enable the use of a container used for a crystal oscillator without mounting conditions economically by securing the bottom and a cover to a metallic body formed with a lead inserting hole at the side wall of an inverted U-shaped section and hermetically sealing an element therein. CONSTITUTION:A metallic plate is, for example, pressed to form, for example, the slot of inverted U shape section in a square as a body 11. Through holes 17, 18 are formed at the faced side walls A, B or C, D of the body 11, and a lead terminal 19 of an element 24 is inserted thereinto. Then, a bottom 21 is hermetically secured to the inner wall 13 of the body 11, and a cover 22 is hermetically secured to the projection 12 of the body, an insulator 20 of resin or the like is filled in the slot 16, and the element 24 is sealed therein. The bottom 21 and the cover 22 are selectively made of metal or transparent material or the like suitably according to the element to be contained. An earth wire may be provided as required at the cover 22. In this manner, the same container may be used in case of laterally and longitudinally mounting on the substrate, facilitating the management of the parts inexpensively and utilizing for elements of many kinds as standardized and thin container commonly.
