Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow letters to be printed with the density uniform in general using a printer that employs a heat-meltable ink ribbon, wherein the curvature of a concave of a printing head that will confront a platen is made equal to the curvature of the platen surface.
CONSTITUTION: The printing head 8 can be pressed against a piece of blank paper 2 on the platen 1 or moved away from the blank paper 2 by the movement of a support member 9 that pivotally moves with respect to a base 9a. When printing is carried out, one end of an arm 17 attached to the base 9a is supported by a flange 19b of a control rod 19, so that the support member 9 is subjected to the force in a direction shown by an arrow F1 by a spring 18 to cause the head 8 to about on the platen 1. In this arrangement, as the curvature of the concave surface 8a of the head is made equal to the curvature of the surface of the cylindrical platen 1, the ribbon is pressed on the surface of the platen with the pressure uniform on all over the letters to be printed.
