Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an easily releasable surface-protecting paint for iron product, which can be applied as a temporary protecting film without staining the surface, by compounding specific resin component, solvent component, plasticizer component, and rust preventive component.
CONSTITUTION: The objective paint is prepared by mixing (A) 100pts.wt. of a resin component composed mainly of polyvinyl butyral having a polymerization degree of 250W800, (B) 200W2,000pts.wt. of a solvent component composed of one or more solvents selected from alcoholic solvents (pref. having ≤6C atoms, esp. a primary alcohol) and ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers (pref. having ≤4C alkyl, e.g. methyl cellosolve), (C) 15W30pts.wt. of a plasticizer component composed of one or more plasticizers selected from phthalate plasticizers (e.g. dibutyl phthalate) and fatty acid plasticizers (e.g. dioctyl adipate) and (D) 0.1W25pts.wt. of a rust preventive of formula (R is 10W18C alkyl), e.g. oleoyl sarcosine, at room temperature.
