Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure continuously and accurately the concentration of powder material even under a condition of higher temperature by installing an infrared ray emitter and a detector so as to put the powder material flowing between them and by measuring the amount of the transmitted infrared ray. CONSTITUTION:A heating unit 3 for emitting an infrared ray and an infrared ray detector 4 are installed through protective glass 5, putting powder material 1 in a duct 2 between them. The heating unit 3 is heated to sufficiently higher temperature than that of the powder material 1 and emits an infrared ray with wavelength of 1-20mum. The protective glass 5 is one that transmits sufficiently the infrared ray with wavelength of 1-20mum, and the infrared ray detector 4 detects the intensity of the infrared ray of 1-20mum. The infrared ray emitted from the heating unit 3 transmits the protective glass 5, and is scattered, absorbed and attenuated by the powder material 1 and lastly enters the infrared ray detector 4. From the intensity of the infrared ray detected in this way, concentration of the powder material 1 is measured.
