Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure with high accuracy a change in the crank angle of friction torque, by detecting in a time series pressure in a cylinder and the speed of revolution of an engine at every prescribed crank angle. CONSTITUTION:The output of a pressure sensor 12 that is arranged in each cylinder of an engine 10 and detects pressure Pz (z represents the number of cylinders) in each cylinder is converted to a signal suitable for arithmetic processing using a signal converter 14. The output of a crank angle sensor 16 provided on the tip of a crank shaft 10a is counted alternately by use of two counters 18, 20 and outputted. As to the output from the converter 14 and the outputs from the counters 18, 20, changes of the crank angle of friction torque Tf at no-load running of the engine are estimated by means of an arithmetic processing device 22, and then they are printed on a printer 24. That is, pressures P1-Pm in the cylinders of all cylinders and the speed w of revolution of the engine at respective crank angles theta are detected simultaneously in a time series, and friction torque Tf at every crank angle theta is calculated.
