Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent an engine from stop and a catalytic converter from overheat in idling or the like by introducing fresh air into an exhaust manifold.
CONSTITUTION: A manifold change-over valve 18 comprising first and second change-over valves 26, 28 is changed over to the exhaust manifold 22 side according to throttle valve full-closing signal or the like of a throttle sensor 6. Also, an air fuel ratio ratio controller comprising a control circuit 13 and the like for changing over the valve 18 to the intake manifold 20 side according to rich air fuel ratio signals of an O2 sensor 8 is provided to introduce fresh air into the exhaust manifold 22 in idling or the like. When a valve 32 is closesd in the idling or the like, the output full closing signal is generated from the sensor 6 and the circuit 12 sends the output change-over signal to a negative pressure changing-over valve 36 which is changed over to introduce negative pressure applied to a port 38 into a diaphragm chamber in the valve 28. Then, the valve 28 is opened corresponding to the size of the negative pressure to open a fresh air introducing path 4 for exhaust and introduce fresh air into pipe 22. Thus, fresh air is introduced into the intake manifold 20 in deceleration or the like to prevent an engine from stop without providing lean air fuel ratio.
