Abstract
PURPOSE:To avoid direct exertion of external force upon the connection part of an optical cable by containing said part in a pressure resistant circular tubular shell body, anchoring the same at both end parts thereof and providing airtightness. CONSTITUTION:The outside covering 27, protection pipe 26 and high tensile wires 25 in the end part of a submarine optical cable are cut to prescribed length, and the pipe 26 and the wires 26 are anchored by using a circular truncated cone collar 25 and an anchor cone 36. Thence, plastic covering 31 is applied on the cable protected by only the protecting pipe 24, and a molding 38 is formed between the same and a pressure resistant circular tublar anchor shell body 30. After optical fiber cores 22, a central steel wire 21, and a feeder 34 are connected, a pressure resistant circular tubular shell body 28, a pressure resistant end face plate 29, and a rubber boot 41 are mounted. Hence, sufficient pressure resistant airtightness is provided to the lead-in part of the cable into the body 28, whereby the exertion of external force upon the connection part is prevented and the reliability at the laying is improved.
