Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure the turn-ON operation of a thyristor by superposing the voltage charged in a capacitor on the terminal voltage of the thyristor. CONSTITUTION:A load RL, a thyristor TH, a capacitor c and a resistor R1 are connected in a loop, and a diode D, a capacitor C and a switch S are connected in a loop. Then, when the switch S is opened, the capacitor C is charged via a circuit of the resistor R1, and the diode D, and when the switch S is closed, the capacitor C is discharged via a circuit of the thyristor TH and the switch S, and the terminal voltage of the capacitor C charged in advance by the voltage equal to the power voltage is supersposed on the terminal voltage of the thyristor TH, and double voltage of the power voltage is applied between the terminals of the thyristor. Thus, sufficiently larger voltage than the intrinsic brakeover voltage of the thyristor can be readily produced to ensure the turn-ON operation of the thyristor.
