Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a steel plate for vessels of the performance that sufficiently lends itself to a can making system by electric resistance welding by specifying the ratio of the layer thickness of Ni plating and the Cr-O type of chromate coating at the time of applying the former on the steel plate then the latter.
CONSTITUTION: Ni plating of 0.01W0.30μm thicknesses is applied on the surface of a steel plate to improve its corrosion resistance. Chromating of 2W20mg/m2 coating weights in terms of the amount of Cr is applied on the surface thereof to improve corrosion resistance after painting, wherein the Cr-O type coupling/Cr-OH type all coupling at the uppermost surface of this coating is kept at ≥0.90. To this end, the cathodic treatment by aqueous Cr acid and di-Cr acid solns. is carried out at about ≥60°C, so that the dehydration and condensation reaction of the Cr+3 hydroxide of the formed film and the reduction reaction of the Cr+6 are in the film to Cr+3 accelerated. Then, the film of low rates of hydration and less Cr+6 is formed, and the Cr-O type coupling ratio is increased by the limination in the coating weight. This film is further subjected to high-temp. water treatment for about 0.3W10sec. at about 65W100°C right after the formation or after rinsing.
